Bill Nagelkerke

Yesterday a New Zealand author came to our class for a visit. His name is Bill Nagelkerke. While he was here he talked to us about his books and some tips if you want to become an author. One of the books he read was 'Emily's Penny Dreadful'. I really liked the start of the story, I really want to read the rest, it sounds really cool.

My favourite part of the visit, was when he read his book he made when he was 8 about an old kids tv show he watched when he was younger. Before he left he showed us a magic trick. It was really awesome.

I really enjoyed his visit, it was interesting to listen to him and discover new books. Here are some pictures of our experience:

William Pike

Today at 2:00, William Pike came to our school for a quick visit. While he was here we asked him some questions and talked about what we've done so far for the William Pike Challenge Award. It was good to see him again, since the last time I saw him was last year.

I'm really looking forward to doing some more WPCA and learning new things. And I hope we do surfing again because it was a lot of fun. If you want to check out my blog post about my surfing experience click here.

Book Awards

Today, Rimu went to St Margaret's for a special event. Children and adults book awards! I was really excited to see some NZ authors, and learn about them and their books. When we got there, I wasn't really sure what this was, all I knew was that we were meeting NZ authors. But once we got into it, I realized we were just listening to the authors reading out a bit of their books and talking about themselves.

My favourite two were, Jenny Cooper and Leonie Agnew. I like Jenny Cooper because, I really like her drawings and all the facts she gave us that inspired me. And I like Leonie Agnew, because when she read the back of her book 'The Impossible Boy' I really wanted to read. And I love how she got the idea for the book.

Here are some photos of the event:

Netball Zones

Today, the YMS netball team went to zones at Rolleston College. Unfortunately we lost three games and we tied one. But after the 2nd game it started raining a lot, so they cancelled the last game. In the last game the courts were really slippery, but the good thing is, no one got injured.

I had a lot of fun. It was great to learn new skills and meet new people.
