Meeting Jamie Duff!

This week Yaldhurst Model School, got the privilege of meeting a famous NZ Sprint racer... Jamie Duff! Jamie and his dad came to our school with their sprintcar. It was really interesting to learn about what they've been doing and looking at the car.

We also got autographs. It was really cool. And turns while I was there, my cousins husband was there and helped with the car. Once we got back inside the classroom, five of us sneakily went to look at the massive truck the car came in with our teacher Mrs Taylor! We stood in front of it and got some pictures and had a look inside.

There wasn't alot inside, but it was big enough to live in it! Here are some photos of our experience: 

How to be a HERO in the Library

Hannah and I were in a group and we created a poster and made it into a video. I hope you like it!

Tennis Ball Presentation

This week Rimu had to make a presentation on tennis balls. So in our groups of four we had to make sure that we could persuade the judges to buy our tennis ball. We also had to think of a brand name and a product name for our tennis ball.

After we finished planning my group created some props and facts. We designed our tennis ball, and wrote down ten facts about why they should buy or tennis ball.

Finally when time was up we presented in front of the class and the four judges. I was kinda scared to stand up and speak but once I did I felt way better.

I found this quite a challenge because my group kept talking so I couldn't concentrate. But we eventually got everything done.

Team Building Exercise

This week in Rimu, we all got split up into four groups. In our groups we had to get to one side on the school field, to the other side of the field with three tyres and a piece of wood.

We could not touch the ground otherwise we would have to go back to the cones and start again. And if the wood touched the ground we would have to go back and start again.
I found it quite challenging to do this because my group didn't really make it clear on what we were doing, but after a while I got it.

How to use the trash in your Google Drive!

This week for cybersmart we all had to make something to teach people how to use Google Drive. I chose the Trash. I made a slide showing how to use it and what you can do with it.

YMS Hero values at the Swimming Pool

This week Rimu had to write down some HERO Values for the swimming pool. So Laura and I created a google slide.

I found it a bit hard thinking of some values but we got there in the end.

Taken to another world.

This week I really enjoyed the silent reading, it was so peaceful so I could actually concentrate on my book. I was really happy to have some time to sit down, get comfortable and read my book. It was like I was taken to another world.

While we are doing silent reading we have to follow these rules: Read your own book, don't have a quite conversation with anyone and of course be silent.

I was reading ‘The midnight gang’ by David Walliams. I haven’t finished the book yet but I’m really enjoying it so far. I like this book because, it has some new words that I haven't heard of before, humor and I can imagine everything the author is writing.
